Glenn Beck had a telephone interview with one of the participants on the float for the Tea Party Organization that was banned for all time from the 4th of July Parade in Bristol, Rhode Island. The participant, Helen Glover, is a radio talk-show host in Providence, Rhode Island. You’ve got to read this ridiculous story>
The requirements put on this one organization smacks of political discrimination of unimaginable proportions:
- They weren’t allowed to dress up like American Indians (Other organizations could)
- They weren’t allowed to have a PA system (Other floats had them)
- They weren’t allowed to “solicit” from the float, i.e. throw things or pass out flyers (other floats threw lollipops, handed out Roller Derby schedules, and a dairy solicited new customers)
They were banned forever from the parade because one gentleman, who was not part of the float, had been walking the parade route for an hour and a half with his 10 or 11 year old son handing out little pocket editions of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
