Rescue of the Captain of the Maersk Alabama

April 13th, 2009 · No Comments

It seems the rescue of the captain was a relatively easy event once the word was given by the President to use military means. Seems the Captain was hostage in the lifeboat for five days. My question is, why didn’t Obama give the word the instant he heard about the captain being taken hostage? Was he too busy with his Seder Party, or getting the new dog, or planning his Easter church visit? Can’t he use ten seconds to do the obvious rescue orders? How long does it take to say, “Have the Navy rescue him now!”

Conversely, if he did order it immediately, what dunderheads in the Navy took five days to set up the rescue?
