Mustang Rambles

I pulled this out of my page of “things that make me think”.

LIBERTY AS AN ABSTRACT IDEA It seems to me that most Americans are content to let the hooligans in Washington, DC slowly take our liberties away. I think that most Americans like the idea of a benevolent government running their lives, choosing their colleges, choosing their careers, choosing their doctors, and choosing their thoughts and speech. It would be very easy if the government were truly benevolent and was dedicated to allowing people the maximum of freedom. However, freedom for the people gives the people power and deletes that power from the government. The government gets smaller. Yet, as people give up their freedoms, the government gains power and grows. President Gerald Ford once said, “The Government large enough to give the people everything they want, is large enough to take everything they have.”


As we know, power begets greed for more power. Absolute power demands demonstrations of its absoluteness, those that wield that power are consumed with the demonstrations of power and by their own megalomania. The people will ultimately be downtrodden and our grandmothers will be sweeping the streets with brooms.

Most Americans today have no idea of what Socialism is, what it does to a society, and how our Constitution is being disregarded. They have never been taught a Civics Class, a class on the Constitution, and real (not politically correct) US History classes. The young just plain don’t know, and all their lives they have been coddled and pampered and have no idea what real freedom can mean and what it costs.

There is a reason why Eastern Europe was never an economic or political heavy weight and that reason was Socialism.

There is a reason why Western Europe is now a union of metro-sexuals with no “cahones” and that reason is Socialism.

There is a reason why America is slumping in world leadership and has severe economic problems and that reason is Socialism.

There is a reason why most Americans have never studied their history or their constitution and that reason is a Socialist-dominated education system.

There is a reason why the American educational system is dominated by Socialists and that reason is the Viet Nam Era draft deferments for citizens whose lack of civic responsibility and cowardice led them into post-graduate degrees and teachers. These people never left academia and never lived in the real world. They just became professors and Deans and Presidents of colleges and Universities.
